SUAC also HIGHYLY RECOMMENDS you to join our 2 Facebook groups:
c) Sydney Uni Archery Club - SUAC. - For all information, discussion about equipment, any queries and meeting new members. Facebook is also the fastest way to receive information about the club.
d) Sydney Uni Archery Club [SUAC]: After Hours - Please join this group too...for all things outside of our archery hours...!
.........
2) O-Week
Thank you all new and old members who came out during O-week! Despite the depressing weather and poor location of our stall stand, SUAC managed to sign up 40 new members and hopefully we'll be seeing more throughout the year!
And pats on the back to David Kwak, Heilok Cheng, Shervin Moradpour, Kosuke Shibata, Majesta Wong, Yue Wu, Sarah Ip, Kevin Ge, Charlotte Beardmore and Callum for volunteering their time to help make the SUAC Stall a success!
P.S: To OLD MEMBERS: Please renew your membership for 2012!
.........
3) Hats and SUAC Shirts
As some of you know, a SUAC hat comes free with membership! Now that we've taken your head size, your SUAC hat is on order and will be arriving in a few weeks! We will notify you all once your new hats arrive so you can drop by and pick them up!
As for the SUAC shirts, they are approximately $40 and we will be taking measurements and orders once the start of semester hype settles.
.........
4) Weather and shooting
So the weather...has been quite temperamental these days. Sometimes boiling, sometimes heavily raining...
Because of this, SUAC asks you all to please, please, PLEASE be patient in regards to training! SUAC shoots in rain or shine, but in the extremes of these two conditions, please forgive the execs or senior members if they do not turn up to open. These days usually have low member turn out not to mention setting/packing up is a group effort, difficult if an exec or senior member is by themselves. I assure you though, when the weather looks good, you will find SUAC members on the field! And if you do turn up at the field, SUAC asks, where possible, to please help set/pack up!
Furthermore - we also ask you all to be very patient during the first few weeks of semester. The SUAC Execs will do our best to give each of you individual attention and find the right equipment for you. Please understand that this takes time and try to remember, it is all part of your training and builds character!
.........
5) Upcoming events:
a) Week 2 Friday 16th March: Meet and Greet Dinner! Rain or Shine, come to SUAC's semester opening event to make friends and get to know the Archery Club! Details on the dinner location are TBA.
b) AGM (see Topic 6 below)
c) State Short Course Tournament
This is the first Archery Australia Tournament during the Uni year in June. It is extremely beginners friendly with many first year SUAC members of previous years taking home medals, such as 2011 Zac Nicolson Gold, 2010 David Kwak and Sam Chan Gold and Silver in their respective divisions and 2008/2009 Jacky Ganwani Silver/Bronze). Details of entry and cost will be given closer to the date, but for now, please consider putting aside a Saturday in June in order to enter this tournament!
d) Disney and Pixar's "Brave" Movie Outing: - Still a long way away, but SUAC will be organising a movie event! Details of this event will given closer to the movie release date but there will be lunch or dinner involved and definitely discussion on the archery techniques in the film! Please leave aside this film to be watched with the archery club and I am sure it will make the outing so much better!
.........
6) AGM (Annual General Meeting)
If you want to get more involved with the club, learn more about archery and SUSF, then why not consider becoming a member of the 2012 SUAC Exec team? Positions available are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Field Captain, Equipment Officer, Publicity Officer and 3 General Exec positions. The AGM will be held sometime in end of March/early April. If you think you have what it takes to take on any of these positions, please don't be shy and try out for your desired position!
......
See you all on the field!
